Language Learning Support Programme

Aneene-Dawber-150x150.jpgThe Language Learning Support Programme was implemented as a response to GPLMS Management’s concern over the number of learners in schools who experience hearing, vision, reading, English, handwriting and writing difficulties.

The 2013 programme engaged Foundation and Intermediate Phase Language Coaches in a series of workshops run by Aneene Dawber. These workshops aimed to skill coaches to better assist teachers to help these learners.

Four Foundation Phase workshops and two Intermediate Phase workshops were held on each topic. The workshops consisted of input, discussion and practise of different support strategies.

Coaches left the workshops with a better understanding of how to support learners, and a set of notes to remind them of these strategies. They also took with them the many ideas from their colleagues on how to help teachers to help learners with barriers.
